Katie Sowers of Hesston appointed Director of Strategic Sport Initiatives in Ottawa

OTTAWA, Kan. (WIBW) – The Ottawa Braves will be bringing NFL talent back to the sidelines – and now, to their sports administration team.

Ottawa announced Tuesday that Katie Sowers has been named the school’s director of strategic sports initiatives. Sowers was a coach for the San Francisco 49rs and the Kansas City Chiefs.

“I am delighted to join forces with such a great university that shares my same vision to develop the game not only of women’s flag football, but to create a platform that strongly advocates equal opportunities for all,” said Sowers said. “I look forward to continuing to use my platform to put myself at the forefront of this initiative at such an opportune and surreal time for women in sport, while devoting my time and energy to making a positive impact. on the overall athleticism of the Braves. “

Sowers will also continue in her role as Defensive Coordinator and Director of Operations for the Ottawa Flag Football team. The Braves are looking to repeat themselves as national champions this season, the first-ever NAIA National Women’s Flag Football Championship Last year.
