Viking Athletics scores high in NCAA APR score release

The NCAA today released the Academic Progression Rate (APR) report for 2017-21 and Portland State Athletics have enjoyed exceptional success. The Academic Progression Rate (APR) holds institutions accountable for the academic progress of their student-athletes through a team-based metric that considers each student-athlete’s eligibility and retention for each academic term. .

In the recent measurable period, Portland State had three programs with perfect multi-year rates of 1,000: men’s and women’s tennis and women’s golf. For the 2020-21 college year, PSU is offering seven programs with perfect scores of 1000: men’s cross country, tennis and track, and women’s basketball, golf, tennis and softball.

Portland State earned an overall APR score of 986, two points above the national average. The score of 986 also meets the NCAA’s annual academic income distribution standard.

The minimum APR academic standard for each team is 930. Each PSU team was at 950 or higher.
