Vikings 53-man roster prediction after Week 2 of 2022 pre-season

After their second exhibition game of the 2022 preseason, which Minnesota Vikings players will earn a spot on the team’s final 53-man roster?

Two weeks into the 2022 preseason and the Minnesota Vikings couldn’t leave the field with a win. Wins and losses obviously don’t matter during pre-season, so there’s nothing to panic about with the Vikings (yet).

In their most recent exhibition contest last Saturday, Minnesota suffered a 17-7 loss to the San Francisco 49ers. We shouldn’t have been too surprised with this result, however, since the Vikings kept more than 25 players off the field in order to avoid unnecessary injuries.

With even more guys from the top of the depth chart on the sidelines against the 49ers compared to last week, some of the Minnesota players who are on the roster bubble had a great opportunity to prove their worth.

The Vikings will have to trim their roster slightly again this week, but if they were to make all of their final cuts before their next preseason game, who would make the squad?

Kellen Mond’s two interception performances on Saturday won’t make people feel too good about Minnesota keeping him in the regular season. But a poor preseason performance shouldn’t be enough for the Vikings to give up on developing a young quarterback.

At the same time, it would still be a good idea for Minnesota to add another veteran flagger to its roster before the start of the regular season, because there’s no benefit to keeping Sean Mannion.
