Wild stat gives Dallas fans hope of winning Super Bowl in 2023
The Dallas Cowboys haven’t been to the Super Bowl in nearly three decades now, but if they can learn something from history, they could be on the verge of qualifying for the big game next season.
With frustration growing among Cowboys fans, many are certainly clinging to any sign of hope or indication that the team is ready to break the Super Bowl drought. On Monday, SB Nation’s RJ Ochoa provided just that with an interesting stat that should excite the Dallas faithful.
As a reminder, the Cowboys lost to the San Francisco 49ers in the Wild Card Round of the 2021 playoffs. Apparently the last time that happened was Dallas bounced back the following season and won the Super Bowl. Interestingly, that was also the last time they won it all – which happened in 1995, after a playoff run when the Niners beat them in the conference championship.
The last time the Dallas Cowboys lost a playoff game to the San Francisco 49ers, they won the Super Bowl the following year. This Super Bowl took place in Arizona.

Does this mean the Cowboys will go to the Super Bowl next season? Well, it’s not 1995 anymore. It’s also worth noting that the Dallas team back then were perennial Super Bowl contenders, having won the title in 1992 and 1993 before missing it in 1994.
The current Cowboys team has won nothing at all, with the franchise not even winning a conference championship since their last title win.
If there’s one thing going for Team USA, though, they played well in 2021 and looked like legitimate threats in the NFC with a 12-5 record. If there’s something they need, maybe a little luck helps – and as the story suggests, it could happen.
